Asphalt Delivers!

Posted By: Cliff Selkinghaus Cliff's Notes,

The Gaffney T-Bridge is located in downtown Gaffney, SC and was first constructed in 1919. The T-Bridge is a significant landmark for Gaffney that is bisected by a major railway line and has undertaking several renovations and additions over its 100+ years. The unique structured bridge forms a T design and connects West Montgomery street to South Granard (US Hwy 29) and is the only route that allows emergency vehicles to bypass railroad crossings when going into downtown Gaffney. SCDOT partnered with the City of Gaffney that recognized that the project needed more than  minor repair and the scope of work included repairing structural damage as well as an entire asphalt overlay. Reeves partnered with the SCDOT to reconstruct and repave the bridge while contending with existing curbs and wall to the original bridge. The attention to detail was imperative not to overload the existing structure, Reeves used a Surface E overlay, limiting the weight for each load to restrict the overall load bearing when placing the mix.

This Reeves project was a tremendous success and deserving of special recognition for a job well done.
